Byron Cage was born in a small town in Michigan where his musical talents were immediately noticed. Is it any wonder then that he had his very first solo in church at the tender age of four?!?

In his early teens, Cage's family moved to Detroit and it was there that he became a member of the Greater Grace Temple where he became a vocal soloist and eventually its youth choir director.

Cage was never far from music ministry activities but it was in the mid-80's when his music ministry talents were really honed when he met and started to tour with gospel great Thomas Whitfield. He only gave this up when he was offered a full music scholarship to Morehouse College (Atlanta, GA). Here, he again showed his music ministry and leadership skills when he was made the music director New Birth, a church that, with Cage at the helm, saw its members grow from 700 to 16,000 members!

But truly the Lord has plans for Byron Cage. In the late 90's, he moved to Fort Washington where he became the Senior Minister of Church Worship and Music at the Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church. In addition to this, Cage also serves as the international minister of music for Bishop Paul Morton's Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship which made two albums under GOSPO Centric.

It was in these two albums that Byron Cage would finally be noticed as a solo artist. Cage wrote the music lyrics for Yet Praise Him and sang the song Shabach and both became hits!

This prompted GOSPO to offer Cage a solo project and in early 2003, the CD Byron Cage was released. The CD, recorded in a LIVE performance at New Birth Cathedral, features uplifting songs such as Magnify, The Presence of the Lord Is Here, There is a Name, and others.
